Err… Where Is Your Chair? 🤔

It was a fun conversation catching up with Aileen Tan, who is currently the Group Chief People and Sustainability Officer at Singtel Group.

I am so glad we could catch up over a cup of hot chocolate to exchange perspectives on 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 as Singtel celebrates mental wellness in October.

And here are my insights from our 𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗨𝗣 🚀 Conversation

1️⃣ 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴

It is perfectly okay not to be okay.

The world is moving at a supersonic pace, and there are endless transitions that people need to experience, at times, the journey can be daunting and uncertain.

^ It is like sitting on a roller coaster, but eventually, it will come to a stage where the mind settles.

^^ That is where people have a clearer headspace to see the exciting possibilities in front of them.

^^^ It just takes time, and we cannot rush through the journey.

Mental health is first acknowledging that people need time to settle their minds.

2️⃣ 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

It is not the mindset we need to adopt; it is the “mind-setting” we must embrace.

The different phases of our lives will give us multiple challenges that require us to shift from one mindset to another quickly.

I like to use the analogy of how a chair is to mindset.

💺 There is no permanent compatibility of a person to a chair.
💺 We need to change chairs often if we want to grow.
💺 The right chair for you now might be an obstacle to you in the next.

The right chair only stays right sometimes.

+ Change Your Chairs Often.
+ Change Your Chair Today.
+ Time To Change Your Chair

3️⃣ 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴

Are you conscious of how life is calling you?

While it might sound glamorous for a person’s career ambition to become the CEO, the real question is, are you truly happy if you become one?

Is that your LIFE CALL? 🤔

Or is it just a societal expectation of what “success” looks like?

I love how Aileen shared how her career trajectory significantly shifted when she crystallised her true calling and mission.

+ For her, It is about bringing to life what HR and People Evolution is.
+ Since then, she has been on a mission to make a dent in the HR Universe.
+ That gives her the energy and vision to see possibilities as opportunities.

This is her lifetime movement today.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀?

This is 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗵@𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗨𝗣 signing off.
May You 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺, 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿 In The Brand New World.
