I had the great opportunity to catch up with Sharad Govil, the Group CEO of Amazing Hearing Group, who has been revolutionising the audiology space as we speak.
And Wow! I am so glad we caught up and resonated on many levels about 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 and how business, empathy and humans overlap on so many levels.
These are my insights from our 𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗨𝗣 Conversation.
𝟭. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻
The word authenticity has been overused so loosely that it loses meaning over time.
Through our conversation, we believe authentic leadership is about leading like a real human.
We are not machines, and we certainly don’t live our lives producing “output” as our sole reason for living.
+ To lead humans requires us first to appreciate what it means to live as one.
+ To lead humans requires empathising, which means the leader must first self-empathise.
+ To lead humans requires us to put humans before business because the business can’t flourish without them.
After all, if you don’t emphasise with yourself, it is hard to empathise others.
𝟮. 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.
As a leader, do you see the potential and struggles in your younger folks or team members?
Everyone comes to work eager to contribute and make their work meaningful.
Unfortunately, the environment does not support nor sustain their motivation.
Over time, people get trapped in fire-fighting, learn helplessness and stop contributing after a while, and that would be a big loss of potential.
Leaders ask how they can motivate their people.
I said the first thing about motivating people is to stop demotivating them.
𝟯. 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣
There is no more LeaderSHIP today because there is no more ship to lead, but Human to Lead.
𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 is what will move us in this brand-new world.
The ability of LEADER to lead HUMAN is not rocket science but has always been swept under the carpet in the name of ROI.
It is time to turn on the HumanSHIP and let it chart its new course.
This is 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗵@𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗨𝗣 Signing Off.
