At the recent RISEUP Conference, I spoke with my RISEUP keynote – ๐๐ข๐ก’๐ง ๐ช๐๐๐ ๐จ๐ฃ. ๐ฅ๐๐ฆ๐๐จ๐ฃ!
It recounts my traumatic experience of the severe infection that left me handicapped without medical help and how I survived the first 365 days till the first solution appeared.
If you are curious, this is my RISEUP Story:

More importantly, I shared how the void deck relates to our life, work and leadership.
I share the 3 CATCHES OF LIFE.
And today, I will share the first catch:

If you want to catch something, you must first let go of what you currently hold on to.

Most people live under the baseline where their happiness is not by design but by events.
Promotion, pay-rise, a new car, a new watch, celebrating a marriage, etc. are all happiness by events.
One way to stay above the baseline is to embed small wins by design daily.
Sleeping at the void deck while searching for a solution was a small win because it was the only way to keep me sane daily.
– I woke up at 12 pm to take my lunch – a small win.
– I walk to the void deck with pain and lie there from 2 to 5 pm – a small win
– I took my dinner at 6 pm – a small win
– I go to bed at 8 pm – a small win.
The above repeats itself for 365 days.
And yes, that was how I live my life before I finally found a solution where medical science could not.

The void deck was the safe space I needed desperately.
Are you the void deck in your workspace?
Do people find you easy to be around, easy to talk to, and excited to be with daily?
If you are a leader, are you the void deck where people come to you or walk away?
If you are a company, do people perceive your workplace as a safe workplace?
#๐ฏ ๐๐ ๐๐ง ๐๐ฆ ๐ ๐ช๐๐ก, ๐๐ง ๐๐ฆ ๐ ๐ช๐๐ก.
Leaders and individuals who are at their psychological best celebrate small wins intentionally.
When you know how to celebrate the small ones, you will learn to appreciate and celebrate the big ones when they come along.
A win is a win.
It does not matter whether they are big or small.
But there are people whose wins will never come because it is never โbigโ enough for them to celebrate.
Thatโs why they are constantly living below their happiness baseline.
Are you living above the happiness baseline today?
This is Joseph signing off.
