I finally had the opportunity to catch up with Priya Khosla, who is currently heading the Singtel Academy, and we had the most fabulous RISEUP conversation.
Here are my 𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗨𝗣 takeaways from our cup of hot chocolate ☕
1️⃣ 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁
↳ All of us love progress in our careers, but waiting for progress is not going to work.
↳ Instead, progress is something you intentionally pursue, and it is more than just a pay grade.
↳ It’s about taking on exciting new challenges and learning new things so that we gain more wisdom and perspective.
2️⃣ 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗼 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹
Having career conversations is a mandatory challenge for leaders if we want to keep the current new workforce mindset engaged.
Conversation is the new way of engagement.
↳ Gone are the days when we just worked hard, stayed quiet, and did our jobs.
↳ The young workforce today measures an organisation’s engagement from a conversational angle.
↳ They expect conversations about their career, performance, coaching, and mentoring.
Leaders who cannot or don’t want to engage in conversation are not leading in this brand new world.
Don’t expect the world to fit into your way; instead, flow with the world so that they eventually fit into you.
3️⃣ 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝗻𝗲𝘀
↳ It is not just about taking care of ourselves; everyone has a duty to take care of our loved ones.
↳ Mental fitness becomes a daily conscious effort when we are pulled in both directions—work and home.
↳ It is not easy, as most of us go through that phase, but it is always important to find support not just at home but at work too.
Mental wellness are not a one-man effort; it is a village effort.
