It was a long 22 years before I caught up with a leader I respected, and he is Hock Woon Chiang
He is currently the Deputy CEO of Sports Hub, who oversaw the entire transition of our National Stadium back to the State.
Hock Woon was also my Commanding Officer during my National Service with the Commando family.
I canโt help calling him Sir during the meeting. Wellโฆ Commando habits die hard, I guess. Lolโฆ ๐

Being elite does not equate to being an elitist.
If you are an elite, your mission is:
+ To make the impossible possible so the people around you can benefit.
+ To reach out to people below the baseline and help them move upward to a better place.
+ To create a breakthrough so that others can succeed because you have gone before them to land the groundwork.
An Elite is not afraid of getting their hands dirty for the good of the people.
Meanwhile, elitists are only concerned with themselves with senseless pride and division.
Be an elite in your field to have the power to help.
And throw away that elitist mindset that divides the world.

Do not expect the people on the ground to understand that โbiggerโ picture.
It is the duty of the leader:
+ To ensure that their people focus on what they do best on the ground so that it supports the bigger mission.
+ To ensure the leaders themselves have the bigger picture so that everything they do on the ground is intentional to the bigger mission.
It was a whole lot of insights coming from a man who holds three important โChiefโ Positions;
+ Chief Commando Officer

+ Chief Officer of OCS.
