It was a fun experience recently to be invited by Health Sciences Authority to be a part of their speakers series for their learning festival.
I spoke on the importance of 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗢𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 and not wait for organisation to take care of you. Because it will not happen 😱
The metaphor of an iron rice bowl exists 30 years ago because back then our economy was rather predictable.
𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆’𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺.
↳ The economy is highly unpredictable.
↳ The new “long term” is 3 years and not 10 years.
↳ What you learn today is obsolete 6 months down the road.
Here are 3 radical key take-aways from my keynote out of the many provoking nuggets I shared.

The days of a simple rice cooker that only makes rice are long gone.
Today, you need to be like a modern, multi-functional rice cooker—one that can steam fish, boil soup, cook different grains, and more.
𝙰𝚛𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚕𝚎 𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚊 𝚖𝚞𝚕𝚝𝚒-𝚏𝚞𝚗𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚛𝚒𝚌𝚎 𝚌𝚘𝚘𝚔𝚎𝚛?

If you define career success solely as moving up the ladder, you’re setting yourself up for risk. It’s crucial to have at least three different ways to view and measure career success.
