A friend at work shares that she receives blunt feedback from her boss.
She was offended not by the feedback but by her boss’s tonality and directness.
During the conversation, the boss kept saying she was just being authentic and nothing personal.
She shared that she could have done it more 𝗧𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁, and she would gladly receive the feedback and take action.
She lost the respect of her boss, and her boss had lost the trust of a member in the name of authenticity.
🔥 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁
Being authentic does not give the person the right to speak whatever is on their mind.
𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘢𝘻𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴. 🤧
Venting is not feedback; people tend to label the venting as “authentic” and destroy the conversation.
+ If we want someone to embrace feedback so that they can improve,
+ Then, we need to embrace the spirit of tactfully directing.
+ It is possible to give input tactfully so that at the end of the day,
We can foster respect for each other.

+ As long as we are conversing with a person about them, it is 𝙿𝙴𝚁𝚂𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻．
+ A Human Conversation is 𝙿𝙴𝚁𝚂𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻．

Sometimes, humans are too lazy to think before they speak 😅
Anyone intelligent enough knows how to speak intelligently.

There are tons of programmes on feedback, and we are far from giving one empowering one.
While the why and how is important, one of the most critical questions to ask oneself is,
“𝙸𝚜 𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝙸 𝚠𝚒𝚕𝚕 𝚜𝚊𝚢 𝚐𝚘𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚘 𝚖𝚘𝚝𝚒𝚟𝚊𝚝𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚙𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚘𝚗 𝚝𝚘 𝚍𝚘 𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚊𝚋𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚒𝚝 𝚙𝚘𝚜𝚒𝚝𝚒𝚟𝚎𝚕𝚢？”
Anyone should feel empowered and motivated to want to do something after hearing your feedback.
Feedback is about that human, so bring the word human into your feedback today.
