It has been an amazing years since I started 𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗨𝗣 to 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽.
During this journey, I’ve had the honour of connecting with over 60 senior leaders through our RISEUP Conversations, exploring what it means to 𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗨𝗣 𝗮𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 in our ever-changing world.
Each conversation reflects the dedication of these leaders who generously share their insights with me. When they accept my coffee invitation, it signifies their commitment to human leadership, showing their beliefs through action.
As my collection of RISEUP Conversations grows, here is a quick take-away of what I learned and hopefully, we can harness this wisdom and move confidently into 2025, ready to inspire and uplift one another on our leadership journeys!
1️⃣ 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿
↳ When you look into a mirror, you see yourself.
↳ When I see your team, I see you.
↳ Because your team mirror you.
🌟 Tʜᴇ Rᴇᴀʟɪᴛʏ Cʜᴇᴄᴋ:
# If your team’s performance is lacking, it reflects on you as a leader.
# If your team is thriving and achieving meaningful results, that success mirrors your effectiveness as a leader.
2️⃣ 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆?
There’s a common saying that leadership isn’t about you, but I disagree.
↳ Consider this: when a leader is stuck in the mud, how can we expect them to guide their team forward? It’s simply not possible.
↳ A leader must be at their psychological best to effectively support their team. When leaders prioritise their own well-being, it enables their team to thrive as well.
🌟 Tʜᴇ Rᴇᴀʟɪᴛʏ Cʜᴇᴄᴋ:
Perhaps, the first thing we need to learn when we are a leader for the first time, is not about leadership. But to learn how we can take care of ourselves as a human in a leadership role.
3️⃣ 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝗠𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁
↳ The moment we step into a leadership role, we must recognise that our team is often much smarter than we are.
↳ We are not the sole embodiment of leadership; our team is the true leadership.
↳ Your effectiveness as a leader rises and falls based on your ability to gather wisdom from your team.
🌟 Tʜᴇ Rᴇᴀʟɪᴛʏ Cʜᴇᴄᴋ:
When you learn to harness the collective wisdom of your team, your influence will naturally grow, as they will support you wholeheartedly. However, if you focus solely on yourself, you risk diminishing your own intelligence and influence.
