I had a fun time chatting with Frank Koo 高國堂, who is the Head of Asia – Talent and Learning Solutions at Linked Singapore.
Over our conversation, we had tons of ideas bouncing off one another, and I was certainly impressed with how LinkedIn effectively cascade the spirit of compassion across every employee and into their roles, which is a feat.
Here are my insights from our RISEUP Conversation.
1️⃣ 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗵𝘆
In the past, when we lead people to get things done, when the leader says, “𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗚𝗼”, 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗡?
But today, when a leader says,
“𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗚𝗼”, 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗪𝗛𝗬?
Leaders today must lead by staying intentional about why they do what they do and not doing something because they have always done it “that way”.
Leaders need to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.
2️⃣ 𝗗𝗼 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲?
I am not surprised by every leader I encountered in our RISEUP conversation, a Positive Rebel.
Perhaps it is because I am a Positive Rebel myself! 🔥
+++ Positive attracts Positive +++
And maybe that is why I am attracting so many Positive Rebels Leaders to my RISEUP Conversation since the day I started this RISEUP movement 🤣
We need Positive Rebels who are highly curious and are willing to experiment with new thinking and doing.
After all, it’s the Positive Rebel that shifts the world. Staying the status quo is not going to move any mountain.
3️⃣ 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗘𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁
I shared with Frank my concept of how leaders should eat first, and yes! We had a good laugh over its practicality.
Frank shared about how he ensures that he eats first before an event to be fully present and intentional during the event itself.
ME TOO! Both hands UP! 🙌
Leaders need to eat first, not because it is a privilege but a responsibility.
+ When the leader knows how to take care of themselves,
+ They can then take care of the people, and the people, in turn,
+ Learn how to take care of their leader.
I called it the 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗟⭕𝗖𝗜𝗥𝗖𝗟𝗘 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 in this brand new world.
